I think that this is the most incredible property I have shot to date.

This elegant three-bedroom penthouse was shot in December, 2013 by myself, Craig Newman, and real estate photographer Josef Nalevansky. It rivaled the most luxurious resorts in location, design and convenience and frankly, we had a lot of fun.

Panoramic 270-degree ocean views are the centerpiece of this immaculate property located in the heart of Newcastle’s trendy East End just steps from Newcastle Beach, Hunter Street village and the city’s best cafes, bars and restaurants.

In order to best capture these amazing views in a property video, the whole property was shot using RAW, 14-bit video using a HD camera, slider and tripod.

The spacious open-plan living/dining room presents floor-to-ceiling ocean views with attractive vaulted ceilings, automatic blinds and gourmet kitchen. The automated function took a little bit extra to film because there was only one of me and I had to run from the switch to the camera to get the shot!  I upgraded the video package for Rick Rowan but usually for this size shoot, I would have an extra crew member to cut down on production time.

Bi-fold glass doors surround the main balcony for year-round entertaining in the built-in outdoor kitchen. There was a state-of-the-art home theatre, which was surprisingly the most difficult room for me to film due to the latitude differences, almost as difficult to capture as the “open-plan office space”. In hindsight, I would have filmed these differently… next time.

The master suite was my favorite with features like a private balcony, walk-through wardrobe and ensuite with marble bath and wall-mounted TV.

To round out the video, I spent some time getting some local b-roll in Newcastle and wow… has in changed. Gone is the coal-miners town! The beards are still there but now instead of gruff miners, they appear on the faces of trendy young adults and professionals.

It was an absolute joy to film this property, and I’m sure I speak for Josef when I say, that we look forward to the next property we shoot for Rick Rowan.
